Evolution
I see the moon perched on the ancient vimana and wonder how power structures evolved into pyramids, leaving room at the apex for only one. The flatness of consensus turning vestigial. We know from ostriches – the way they lost flight when predators that triggered swift departures were no longer a threat. Above all, safety. Above all, survival. But there remains the issue with light: what it was before we could see, what was lost, and what we should do now with the darkness that still stubbornly remains?

From a great height
the boisterous sun is shining
like the head of a family
from whom life must flow.
But we, who know
the blister of an afternoon
take pity on our fields
removing dirty sandals
tucking the sun into bed
and lull the child to sleep
with our singing.
The problem with pyramids is that they can only summit, permanence become eternal dust. Pray for the grace of noctal winds, I suppose. Singing back.
